Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from the top,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and earn three points naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so let’s see.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his team in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
