Latest Oil Plant Strike Reveals 'No Protected Places in the Russian Deep Rear'

Ukrainian drones have struck Russia's oil processing plant in the city of Ufa, positioned approximately 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, causing detonations and a fire, as reported by a source in Ukraine's intelligence agency.

This marks the 3rd intelligence long-range attack in Bashkortostan in the recent weeks. Such strikes show that there are no safe places in the deep rear of the Russian Federation.

Zelenskyy Calls On US President to Broker Peace in Ukraine

Volodymyr Zelenskyy appealed to President Trump to broker peace in the Ukrainian conflict in a telephone conversation on Saturday.

"Provided that a conflict can be halted in a single area, then certainly other wars can be halted as well, covering the Russian aggression," Zelenskyy stated, commending the US President's "remarkable" Gaza ceasefire plan and requesting the US president to influence the Moscow into talks.

Moscow's Assaults Claim Casualties in the Country

Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least several civilians on the weekend and caused blackouts to areas of the south Odesa area, per Ukrainian officials.

Two civilians lost their lives within a church in the town when it was hit, according to regional officials.

In the Russian frontier area of Belgorod, a vehicle operator was fatally wounded by a Ukrainian strike, according to municipal sources.

Electricity Restoration Work in the Capital

Efforts proceeded on Saturday to repair energy infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital, after strikes by Moscow.

Power had been returned to more than 800,000 citizens by the weekend and the largest private energy company stated the key work to restore power was complete though partial blackouts remained.

Air Defence Operations and Drone Jamming

Ukraine's anti-aircraft systems intercepted or jammed 54 out of 78 UAVs from Russia deployed targeting the country overnight, the military reported on the weekend.

Russia's military authorities claimed it eliminated forty-two Ukrainian drones over the country's airspace.

Cuban Government Refutes Claims of Sending Soldiers to Ukraine

Cuba on the weekend denied American assertions it has deployed military personnel to engage in the conflict in Ukraine, while stating Cuban authorities "lack precise details about citizens of Cuba" engaged "independently" or "within the troops of both sides".

The foreign ministry in the capital announced 26 Cubans had been convicted to jail sentences varying between 5 to 14 years for mercenary involvement since the autumn of 2023 when information emerged of Cubans being dispatched to the frontlines in the conflict.

Surrender Initiative Initiative Reveals Data on Cuban Involvement

The program, a official Kyiv initiative that promotes enemy combatants to lay down arms, stated in spring: "We have confirmed the names and personal details of one thousand and twenty-eight individuals who signed contracts with the Russian military in the past two years."

The Cuban foreign ministry commented of Cuban nationals who might be involved: "Undeniably that no individual possesses the backing, dedication, or consent of the government in Havana for their involvement."

Relatives of Cubans who departed to Russia in the year reported to international media at the time that their family members had been deceptively recruited through promotions on digital networks.
