Supporters Call for Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate followers of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who leaped a barricade and touched the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or expelled from Singapore.
A viral clip depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was due to appear on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
History of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram feed includes videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user remarked.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Safety
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote a further message on Instagram.
A number of fans also criticised guards at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested online networks to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Aftermath and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The motion picture, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part interpretation of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely relationship between two very different witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing movie of last year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, earning several for best costume and artistic direction.
