Alpine star Lindsey Vonn states she will be "in a good place" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following securing a podium spot for the fourth time in her last five World Cup races.

The veteran athlete, who recently made history by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish.

Strong Return in Val d'Isere

Competing at the iconic venue for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking the runner-up spot.

"I was slightly lacking enough direction on the first jump," Vonn remarked. "Subsequently, I skied well. I'm pleased with my run today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious."

This result was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill race on Saturday.

A Remarkable Comeback from Retirement

Vonn ended her career in early 2019 because of ongoing knee problems. However, she returned to racing in December 2024 following a significant orthopedic procedure.

With just over six weeks remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for 6-22 February, Vonn's form are highly promising.

She has one gold and two Olympic bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to compete for the United States at the next Olympics.

"When we get to Cortina, I will be where I need to be," Vonn affirmed.

Chasing More Titles

Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has secured over a professional journey spanning two decades.

She presently enjoys a substantial lead at the top of the overall downhill standings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings.

This season's World Cup campaign features a nine more events taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
