The Denver Nuggets star secured the NBA's MVP honor in 2021, 2022 and 2024.

Three-time National Basketball Association MVP Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" knee injury while the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.

Jokic was hurt late in the first half following an unintentional coming together with teammate Jones.

His teammate stepped on the footwear of Jokic, and he immediately fell to the court grabbing his leg.

The veteran player, that leads the NBA season in rebounds and assists, had 21 points and eight dimes in the game before suffering the setback.

He will undergo an scan on Tuesday to determine the severity of the problem.

"Immediately, he realized there was a problem," stated Nuggets coach Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Anyone who suffers an injury, that's difficult, most notably a player as talented as Jokic. More information will come on Tuesday."

"We'll move on together. Of course, at this moment, I am more concerned about Jokic as a person and the letdown of facing an event like that."
