This strategic shift follows significant changes at the publicly-funded organization, including the departure of its former chief executive last month after both workforce dissatisfaction and government pressure for comprehensive reform.

Growing Cybersecurity Concerns

The latest project comes amid increasing worry about Britain's vulnerability to digital service failures and cyber-attacks.

Recent events have highlighted these weaknesses, including a widespread failure affecting global cloud computing and fresh digital assaults that halted manufacturing at key facilities and logistics systems across multiple companies.

Guidance and Direction

A ex-military leader of the the nation's space operations center will report back next month on how the publicly-supported center can optimally help the scale of government AI ambitions in national security, homeland protection and intelligence.

Operational Restructuring

The center's head, a previous Amazon UK leader, confirmed that multiple research initiatives at the organization with 440 employees have been closed, transferred out or finished because they aren't consistent with the new direction.

Internal Challenges
