NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates includes live text of Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , after recent talk about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests were the number of penalties both conceded. Philadelphia did so in key moments meaning they essentially beat themselves having led 17-3 going into the fourth period against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this Sunday.

But it proved positive to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They executed effective strategies regarding simulated pressure. They did not always sending extra defenders but they could plug two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

Early on of the season, we said on a program that Denver could be the current year's dark horses. They finished last season strongly then excelled of building upon that.

Could Denver be this year's underdog story?

New TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly and new running back their rusher is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

It's impressive how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver are a squad aiming to run first, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush while maintains in positive situations.

This has helped quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, and he's highly agile.

His assets include his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as using different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay in play for longer, and if you have an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to have a rookie QB who's similar to moldable clay. He can really develop him how he wants to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and has passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. I think the success the Broncos are having offensively is largely down to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and boost confidence.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. The key is to continue this path.

They excel at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they must do against the New York Jets in London. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad yet to win any game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the West.

This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
