Both have been linked with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following the former manager's resignation on the start of the week.

The Manager's Stance on The Scottish Club

McKenna referred to Celtic as "a really big football club" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Ipswich in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last campaign as they were demoted back to the second division and they currently sit twelfth place in England's second tier.

"I have not had such conversations," the London-born ex- Irish young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is this week.

"I have a special position here at a remarkable team. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Everything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Agreement Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be willing to talk to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about these. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they used to be, but of course it's a massive sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was asked about his reported £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, were I informed, I wouldn't disclose you anyway!

"I approach this role like I'll be Town's coach forever. I know that's not always going to be the case, but I will consistently give maximum effort as long as I am here."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker represented the Hoops on loan from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Wales striker is minded to complete the current global tournament qualification, a stance that would effectively rule out the 46-year-old from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers the Red Devils and runners-up Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in next month would book their place in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, due to a successful European competition performance, even if they not finish as their group runners-up.

Considering his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract concludes after Euro 2028, would not be available until following the qualifying matches at the earliest.
